Contemporary Ballet Dallas is Changing Ballet Attitudes
Wild & Free honors the independent spirit of contemporary Texas artists and features the music, dancers and choreographers that contribute to our deep artistic legacy! Artistic Director Valerie Tabor premieres, “All Alone Together,” set to a musical landscape by Texas’ own country star, Pat Green. Fellow Texan and Guest Choreographer Michael Mayes is setting original work, “Bus Stop” to the soulful sounds of Booker T. Washington graduate and Grammy winner, Norah Jones. Also, noted choreographer, and recent Texas transplant, Jill S. Rucci will premiere a work featuring the distinctive stylings of Nina Simone & The Zac Brown Band.
Contemporary Ballet Dallas Asst. Director Lindsay Bowman premieres a trio featuring the music of Texas legend – Stevie Ray Vaughan. Jennifer Obeney’s “Beneath the Surface†is intertwined with multi-media aspects for a new dance experience! Texas Tap legend Buster Cooper’s granddaughter Keira Leverton will be tapping to Shulie-A-Bop! Dancer and choreographer Lea Essmyer is restaging and adding new sections to, “Paradise,†originally set on Metropolitan Classical Ballet. Contemporary Ballet Dallas is also pleased to present as our guest company Dallas’ own, DekaDance, back to the Contemporary Ballet Dallas stage with a trio of Lyle Lovett songs.
