October is outdoor Movies in the Park month, presented by Shakespeare Dallas. Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday through October 24, 2020, for socially-distanced movie nights at Samuell-Grand Amphitheater. Thursdays they’ll screen Shakespeare-inspired movies. Fridays, you and your family can enjoy a classic selection and on Saturdays, they will show family-friendly films.
[Read more…]We are sad to announce that the circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic has caused the State Fair of Texas Board of Directors to cancel the 2020 State Fair of Texas.
This will be the first time since World War II that the State Fair of Texas has not opened. The State Fair of Texas has previously canceled Fairs because of World War I (1918), planning for the 1936 Texas Centennial Exposition and 1937 Pan American Exposition at Fair Park (1935 – 1937), and World War II (1942 – 1945).
“This was an extremely tough decision. The health and safety of all involved has remained our top priority throughout the decision-making process. One of the greatest aspects of the Fair is welcoming each and every person who passes through our gates with smiles and open arms. In the current climate of COVID-19, there is no feasible way for the Fair to put proper precautions in place while maintaining the Fair environment you know and love. While we cannot predict what the COVID-19 pandemic will look like in September, the recent surge in positive cases is troubling for all of North Texas. The safest and most responsible decision we could make for all involved at this point in our 134-year history is to take a hiatus for the 2020 season.”

With health and safety as the top priority, the management team and the board of directors discussed all potential scenarios since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Fair gathered input from fairgoers, concessionaires, commercial exhibitors, Midway operators, auto manufacturers, business partners, staff, medical experts, and government officials to consider while coming to this conclusion. The Fair realizes the impact not holding a Fair will have on our loyal fans and the North Texas economy, but this is the right thing to do for the health and wellness of our community.
While the State Fair of Texas is canceled for 2020, the NCAA, respective conferences, and participating universities – the University of Texas & University of Oklahoma and Prairie View A&M University & Grambling State University – will be in charge of making decisions regarding the football games that occur at Cotton Bowl Stadium during this unprecedented time of COVID-19. Should football be played this fall, the schools will be playing in the Cotton Bowl as scheduled, despite the cancellation of the 2020 State Fair. Those details are still to be determined.

Pack your friends and family into the car and head to AT&T Stadium in Arlington for a fun movie night. The Tribeca Film Festival is hosting a summer drive-in movie series.
All films will be broadcast and can be heard in your vehicle using your FM Radio. The specific FM channel to tune to will be listed on the screen during the pre-show trailer.
If your vehicle doesn’t have a radio, it is recommended that you bring one. Or you can listen to streaming quality audio e via wifi. Audio can be fed via Bluetooth or Aux cord to your car stereo.
The movies will be projected using bright, high resolution LED screens, which are visible during all daylight hours.

Tickets prices are per carload, so only one ticket is required per vehicle regardless of the number of passengers. Tickets are available for online purchase only. Day-of sales may take place online, pending an event’s availability. A digital ticket will be emailed to you upon completion of your purchase.
Oversized and unenclosed vehicles are prohibited, including but not limited to: large vans, limousines,, motorcycles, RVs, scooters, and vehicles with open tops. Please contact customer service if you are unsure if your vehicle will be permitted. Pedestrians and bicyclists will not be permitted within the perimeter of the ticketed event site. *Only service animals are allowed and must be kept on leash.
Temporary restroom facilities will be available onsite, although it is encouraged to use the restroom before arriving. All restrooms will undergo enhanced cleanings before, during, and after each event.
Please refrain from idling your engine. If you need to periodically start your car to keep your battery charged, please limit the amount of time you are idling. For nighttime screenings, be aware that any lights in your car will be a distraction to others. Please dim your headlights before pulling into the theater and turn your lights (head, tail & interior) off before the movie starts.
