DFW Event, Attraction and Restaurant Closings Due to Coronavirus

Photo by Tim Mossholder on Unsplash

Flu season comes along every year, but, things are completely different now with the recent outbreak of COVID 19 (Coronavirus). The extremely contagious nature of this pandemic has caused the city of Dallas and the state of Texas to take precautionary measures to stem the tide of this disease.

Canceled Events in DFW

On March 19, 2020, Dallas City Council has extended the emergency declaration through Wednesday, April 29, and Dallas County has banned public gatherings of 10 people or more. That means sporting events like the Byron Nelson, concerts, festivals, and all other events are canceled.

With City, State and Federal agencies encouraging social distancing to limit our exposure to COVID 19, local attractions, movie theaters, and cultural venues like the Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas Arboretum and Texas Discovery Gardens are temporarily closed.

The Dallas Opera has canceled all performances and programs for the remainder of the 2019/2020 season. Bass Performance Hall has canceled all events through May 17, 2020.

The Dallas Summer Musicals and the AT & T Performing Arts Center also have canceled, postponed or reschedules all upcoming events.

See their public health announcements for more information and event news:

Restaurant Dining Rooms Closed

Part of the ban on public gatherings means that restaurants, bars, and pubs are closed s to dine-in service. With schools closed and people being asked to work from home, this means a drastic change in lifestyle for most of us.

There is some good news, though. With curbside pick, takeout and delivery available, you can still enjoy meals from your favorite DFW restaurants. Some local eateries will even deliver wine, margaritas, and cocktails along with your food orders.

About The Fairmont Hotel Dallas

The Festival’s partnership with the Fairmont Hotel Dallas also celebrates the hotel’s 50th anniversary. For a half-century, The Fairmont Hotel Dallas has been the backdrop of countless memories from its grand opening where a parade of elephants led the presentation of the dessert course to its list of prominent hotel guests.
