Celebrate Fathers Day Weekend at the Dallas Arboretum

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden invites you to celebrate this Father’s Day weekend with barbecue and beer on June 16-17. Guests can enjoy beer samples, a cooking demonstration on how to prepare craft sausages, live music, and Elliot’s Hardware will be showcasing grills at A Tasteful Place.

Young Chefs Academy presents a parent and child hands-on cooking class in the demonstration kitchen in A Tasteful Place on June 17 at 1 p.m. Visit www.dallasarboretum.org register. The Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden will be hosting a puppet show and a Super Dads craft corner all weekend long (while supplies last).

Fun for Dad and the Entire Family

Families can take advantage of $2 hot dogs and $2 root beer floats at the Terrace Cafe. Barbecue and beer will also be available to purchase at Cafe on the Green on Saturday and Sunday. Garden guests are also welcome to enjoy a complimentary wild bird flight show at the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn on June 17 at 10:30 a.m. Picnickers are also invited to bring food and drinks or enjoy dining in several picturesque locations throughout the 66-acre garden.

Guests can enjoy a cooking demonstration on how to prepare different types of craft sausages. Guests can purchase sausages from the Just Encased food truck located just outside of the Gary Goodwin Garden Gate at A Tasteful Place from 12- 2 p.m.

This is a parent and child hands-on cooking class geared toward children ages 5 to 8 years old. Adults and children learn to prepare homemade pizza with a variety of toppings and get to eat and enjoy their creations at the end of the class (does not include garden admission). The Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden

Puppet Show: Marvelous Metamorphosis, 10 a.m. & 10:30 a.m., The Glade Puppet Theater (Appropriate for all ages)
Take an adventure with Olivia to find out what she’ll be when she grows up! This interactive puppet show will have you on your toes to learn about metamorphosis.

Nature’s Superheroes, Noon, Moody Oasis
Learn about some of nature’s greatest superheroes like frogs, ants, and bats.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Relay, 4 p.m., Moody Oasis
Race to recycle and reuse things all around.

Creativity Corner (Appropriate for All Ages)

Create arts and crafts using and discussing natural components such as flowers, plants, animals, conservation, and recycling (while supplies last).

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is located on the southeastern shore of White Rock Lake at 8525 Garland Road, Dallas, Texas 75218. The Dallas Arboretum is also the home of the internationally acclaimed Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden. The Arboretum is open daily from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.General admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors 65 and older, $10 for children 2-12 and free for Arboretum members and children under 2. On-site parking is $15 or $9, if purchased in advance online. The Dallas Morning News is the principal partner of the Dallas Arboretum.
