Holiday Workshops at The Heard Natural History Museum

Parents preparing for holiday events often look for special activities to keep kids busy, but entertained during the holiday break.  In The Heard’s  new Kids’ Holiday Workshops, kids ages 5-12 will have a great time completing nature crafts, meeting animal ambassadors, enjoying nature, creating fun and functional gifts, and more!

Winter Wildlife Treats!

Monday December 20, 2010
9am -12pm or 2pm – 5pm
$30/student – sibling discount $25/student

Kids will create healthy, fun, food items that are safe to feed our local animals and birds in the winter. A live animal ambassador will come to visit with the kids. A nature hike on our beautiful sanctuary will highlight the needs of animals in winter. A light animal cracker snack will be provided. All materials are provided. Please send your student adventurer in long pants and closed toe shoes and jacket or coat as needed. Nature’s Ornaments

Using abundant items from nature’s beauty students will create lovely decorations for your home this holiday season. Several projects will be completed. Gifts the Recycled Way

Learning to REDUCE, REUSE, and RECYCLE, the fun way! Students will create some fun and functional gift giving items from repurposed materials. They will learn just how long trash really lasts and different ways to recycle. A live animal ambassador will come to visit with the kids. Students will be taken outside on a nature hike and complete some Leave No Trace environmental awareness activities. A light animal cracker snack will be provided. All materials are provided.
