American Airlines Center Chef’s Challenge

Competition to Create a Featured Menu Item for American Airlines Center

Dallas/Fort Worth Area Culinary Artists are invited to participate in the American Airlines Center Chef Challenge: Signature Offering on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., at the American Airlines Center – AT&T Plaza.

Dining is not a spectator sport at American Airlines Center. From game-day fare to the premium dining experience, Mavericks’ and Stars’ fans deserve the very best.  In a city known for having more restaurants per capita than any other city in the United States, Dallas-area fans at the American Airlines Center continue to hunger for culinary delights. To satisfy fans hunger we are inviting local culinary artists to compete in the American Airlines Center Chef Challenge: Signature Offering. The winning Signature Offering will be featured at American Airlines Center during the upcoming Dallas Mavericks’ and Dallas Stars’ season.

We are constantly looking for new and exciting signature tastes that add excellent flavor and value to the offerings at American Airlines Center,” states Martin Woodall, Vice President of Mark Cuban Companies.

To enter, contestants must complete an entry form and fax to 214-665-4270 or e-mail to marketing@AmericanAirlinesCenter.com. The deadline to enter is Thursday, September 30, 2010. Twenty contestants will be selected from the entries submitted for the live culinary competition in AT&T Plaza at American Airlines Center.

For the first round of competition, contestants will prepare any item with the ingredients selected by American Airlines Center and Levy Restaurants. The judging panel will include a Dallas celebrity chef, Vice President, Martin Woodall, and Levy Restaurants Executive Chef, Brian Johnson.

The top five contestants will advance to the finals where they will prepare their own Signature Offering. Finalists will receive four tickets to a Dallas Mavericks and a Dallas Stars game. The Chef Challenge champion will receive a luxury suite for a night to a Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Stars game. Additionally, the champion will make celebrity chef appearances throughout the season.

The competition is hosted by KLIF’s nationally recognized talk radio show host Jeff Bolton and is sponsored by Central Market, Ducky Bobs, and Cumulus Radio. In addition to being open to the public, the event will be attended by Dallas-Fort Worth area restaurant managers and chef

V Spa celebrates Ben Stevenson’s Cinderella, performed by Texas Ballet Theater, with a Cinderella Spa Soiree on Tuesday, September 28 between 4-6pm. Texas Ballet Theater Artistic Director Ben Stevenson brings the classic tale of Cinderella to life with both humor and drama. From the comic antics of the ugly stepsisters to the elegant ball where Cinderella meets Prince Charming and loses her glass slipper, this timeless tale of elegance, romance and transformation is a lavish story audiences can rejoice in over and over again.

The Garland Symphony Orchestra: A Symphony For All Seasons

The 2010-11 Season of the Garland Symphony Orchestra will explore the theme “A Symphony For All Seasons”. Join the Garland Symphony Orchestra as it moves through the seasons with the classics!

The Season kicks off on Friday, October 22. The Garland Symphony Orchestra will be performing Edvard Grieg’s In Autumn, Glazunov’s “Autumn” from The Seasons, and Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 2 in D Major. Additionally, the Garland Symphony is pleased to feature Vurl Bland, tuba, performing Ralph Vaughn Williams’ Tuba Concerto in F Minor.

Continue the season with the Garland Symphony Orchestra for a journey through the seasons with Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. Beethoven’s Triple Concerto, Divinum Mysterium Concerto for Viola and Orchestra,a November Woods by Arnold Bax, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 1 (Winter Dreams”), Rimsky-Korsakov’s suite from The Snow Maiden, Schumann’s Spring Symphony, Johann Strauss, Jr.’s Voices of Spring Waltz, Mendelssohn’s music for A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Honegger’s Pastorale d’été, will be featured during the season. The Garland Symphony Orchestra will also continue the tradition of its popular Annual Movie Scores Quiz, with musical selections being inspired by the season.

Concert dates for the season are October 22, November 19, December 17, January 21, February 18, March 18, April 15, and May 6. All performances are in the Main Auditorium of the Granville Arts Center and begin at 8:00 pm.
